Deaf Australia CampaignsHelp Deaf Australia - Donate!» Click to donate!Captioning Quality campaignDeaf Australia and ACCAN, along with other organisations, attended the recent ACMA workshop about captioning, and discussed the examples you gave us about poor-quality captioning on TV. Deaf Australia and ACCAN are now working with other organisations to lobby for improved captioning standards on Australian TV. But we need your help! We need to show the TV stations that their captions are not good enough! The problems, the consumers have been experiencing with the current captioning quality, Deaf Australia will need specific examples of poor quality captions from free-to-air television broadcasters such as channels 7, 9, 10, the ABC and SBS. So when you see poor quality, strange or missing captions on a program, we need to know the date, time, channel, program name and the captioning issue. How can you help? 1. Please fill in the attached form every time you see poor-quality captions. 2. You can also take a photo of bad captions on your TV and send them to us. In order to do this we need your help in the following way. When you see poor quality, incomprehensible or missing captions on a TV show, can you please fill in the captioning feedback form. Please send the completed form (and any photos of bad captions) to david.parker@deafau.org.au AND disabilitypolicy@accan.org.au by Friday 5 November. Then we will take them to the next meeting with ACMA to argue why TV and movie captions need to improve. Many thanks for your help, Deaf Australia and ACCAN. » Click for more Captioning Campaign information.
