Deaf Australia Awards Winners Testimonals
- 2007 Deaf Australian of the Year winner

- Ms. Patti Levitzke Gray
- "I am humbled to receive the Deaf Australian of the Year award, particularly as the award is named in honour of my Nanna, Dorothy Shaw. This personal connection makes winning such a prestigious award all the more meaningful. I should recognise my own immediate family in relation to my win, as I could not have contributed so much of my time and energy to the Deaf community without the full support and love of my family who have been there every step of the way, encouraging me when the going got tough - my husband Chris and our children Joshua and Drisana.
-
- The other important people I share this award with are the members of the wonderful Deaf community in Western Australian and the volunteer committee and members of the hard-working Western Australian Association of the Deaf who have demonstrated their faith and support in me, by nominating me to win this award.
-
- My Nanna Dorothy achieved a great deal for us in the Deaf community - it was largely due to her activism and leadership that the community of today has captioning, telephone typewriters, Deafness resources and many more opportunities than she had in her day. I look forward to working with you all to continue to grow my Nanna's vision and to achieve equality for Deaf Australians."
