Deaf Deaf World Workshops

Be prepared to turn off your voice! This popular and highly interactive workshop is for all. We recommend you attend this workshop prior to attending Auslan Community Classes.

What is Deaf Deaf World about?

Deaf Deaf World is a valuable learning experience and resource for professionals, public servants, service providers, health providers, students and anyone with an interest in the Deaf community.

This workshop has a hands-on, fun and practical approach. It is designed to give you an idea of the main issues in the everyday lives of Deaf people.

By attending this workshop, you will learn some basic Auslan signs and gain a better understanding of:

  • The diversity of Deaf people
  • Myths and Facts about Deaf people
  • What is Auslan
  • Communication Strategies

Objectives of the Workshop

  • To develop awareness of and sensitivity to the communication needs of Deaf and hard of hearing people
  • To increase understanding and use of alternative communication methods when interacting with Deaf/hard of hearing people
  • To develop a basic knowledge of Deaf Culture
