Deaf Australia Discussion Papers
Deaf Australia develops and distributes discussion papers to find out about the experiences and views of Deaf Australians (and in some cases other stakeholders such as industry and service providers).
Discussion papers usually have a related questionnaire that can be filled out and returned to Deaf Australia by the deadline stated at the end of the discussion paper. Many issues continue to be relevant after the time for comment has passed.

- This discussion paper asks the Deaf community about what they think of the NRS, emergency services and whether the NRS is up to date with technology.

- Deaf Australia wants to find out what Deaf people think about the interpreting services they receive.

- Rural, regional or remote access telecommunications issues for Deaf people (220KB)
- Services available to people in the ‘bush’ – rural, regional or remote locations have been discussed in a lot of detail especially at the beginning of the new millennium. Many improvements have occurred and disadvantages have emerged since the Regional Telecommunications Inquiry. This paper explores whether Deaf people who live in the ‘bush’ are able to access telecommunication services fairly and effectively.

- Telecommunications service access issues for Deaf people (164KB)
- This discussion paper is targetted to government, industry, regulatory and community organisations that provide telecommunications products and services to Deaf people. It is also relevant for generic service providers and Government agencies to assist them in making their organisations more accessible to Deaf people.
