WFD Youth Camp

The 2nd WFD International Youth Camp was held at Camp Warrawee, north of Brisbane from 15 - 22 July 1999, the week before the XIII World Congress.

2nd WFD International Youth Camp

The theme of the Camp was Deaf Youth - Leaders for 2000 and beyond. Young people from all over the world attended and some people found International Sign a challenge but within a few days everyone found ways of communicating with each other.

The Camp was good fun and a great opportunity for networking and socialising for participants. There was a serious side to the Camp too - workshops were run to educate participants on international issues affecting Deaf people.

Distinguished guests including WFD President Liisa Kauppinen, WFD General Secretary, Carol-lee Aquiline, CISS President, John Lovett and Deaf Australia Board members visited the Camp.

The future of the international Deaf community is in very good hands.
